The actual title of the above picture is "Theologian in his Garden". The picture is analysed by Brian McAvera, in his book, Patrick Pye: Life and Work (Dublin 2012), pp. 76-81. The seated figure in the painting is St Jerome. St Christopher carries the infant Jesus across the river. Pye's painting is a transformation of "Saints Christopher, Jerome and Louis of Toulouse" by the Italian Renaissance artist Giovanni Bellini,
